Saint Louis University is a privately running university in St. Louis, Missouri. It has an urban setting and is affiliated to Roman Catholics. It is a co-ed university and the second oldest Jesuit College in the nation.

In 1943, the university opened its gates for Saint Louis University opened its doors for the African Americans. The university has two campuses in Madrid and in Spain. The Madrid campus became the first independent campus to be controlled by an American University in Europe. It is also identified as the first American institution to be named official foreign university by Spain's higher education authority. Washington University in St. Louis located in Campus Box 1089, 1 BrookSt. Louis Universityings Drive is a private research university. Its degree courses include courses in arts & sciences, law, business, medicine, social work, art, architecture, and engineering. WUSTL's medical and social work schools are both rated second in the nation and undergraduate programs are ranked ninth in the nation. The university's Hilltop campus is famous for its European styled architecture. WUSTL's sports teams are called the Bears, which participate in the University Athletic Association, an NCAA Division III conference. The university's School of Medicine is rated the #2 medical school in the country. Webster University is located in the suburb of Saint Louis. Initially it was Catholic women's colleges. After 1962, the university became co-ed. The university is having international campuses in Geneva, Switzerland, Vienna, Austria; Leiden, the Netherlands; London in the UK; Hamilton, Bermuda; Shanghai, China; and Cha-am, Thailand. The University of Missouri-St. Louis is a publicly running one of four leading campuses in the University of Missouri System. It is the largest university in the St. Louis area providing baccalaureate master's, and doctoral degrees.

The various schools affiliated to the university are the College of Business Administration, the College of Education, the College of Fine Arts and Communication, the College of Nursing, and the College of Optometry. Fontbonne University is a co-ed Catholic institution located in the inner suburb of St. Louis between Washington University to its north, and Concordia Seminary to its south. The university holds the programs in providing education to deaf.

This city of rhythm & blues offers an exhilarating nightlife particularly the downtown area. It is a fun place to hang around after the sun sets down. The nightclubs here steal the show by offering Jazz, Latin, alternative, world beat, techno, rock and musical styles to host their guests. Llywelyn's Pub located in 4747 McPherson in the CWE is a Welsh bar renowned for its large variety of British beers, shepherd's pie and home-style potato chips.

It is mostly visited by the Wash U graduate students who love to date after a busy afternoon shift. M.P. O'Reilly's is located at 14 Maryland Plaza in the CWE. It is a dance bar particularly for the college going youngsters. Lemmons Basement Bar located in 5800 Gravois Avenue, is often hunted by lank-haired hipster-dudes, who are St. Louis Night Lifeover six feet tall. Visiting this well stocked bar is an atypical and welcome experience in this town. Lo located in 500 North Fifteenth Street, is a place for the real party animals. The small podium here can accommodate only 57 people. The DJs play techno and retro on the weeknights. An attitude located in 4100 Manchester Ave is one of St. Louis' most in style gay and lesbian bars. It's a great place to enjoy and is a favorite hang out after-work stop. The large dance floor welcomes everyone to chill out and move to the music. The music here suits everybody's fancy from country to rock to golden oldies. Those who don't wish to move their bodies there are dart games, a jukebox and karaoke. Banana Joe's located in 118 East Morgan St is a famous venue among the singles who seek a good time after a hectic day of work. It is one of the area's wildest places for hosting bachelor and bachelorette parties.

Blueberry Hill located in 6504 Delmar is the place to enjoy great food and live bands. This five-star venue has the finest in blues, reggae and rock 'n' roll. All the good looking and popular people go to Complex located in 3511 Chouteau. Here the music is loud and the dance floor is hot. The regulars here are mainly gays. Velvet located in 1301 Washington Ave is an attracting nightspot that mostly attracts the people who like to socialize in a fashionable atmosphere. The dance floor is spacious with flashy psychedelic lights. The club has a proper dress code.

The Cardinals play their home game4s in beautiful Busch Stadium; the St. Louis Rams play home games in the new Trans World Dome, and the St. Louis Blues play hockey at the Kiel Center. The Kiel Center also hosts St. Louis Ambush indoor soccer, St. Louis Stampede arena football, St. Louis University's Billikens basketball, St. Louis Vipers professional roller-hockey, ice shows, concerts family shows and many other specialized and college events.

In 1916 the city started hosting the Women's International Bowling Congress. Some of the minor leagues that are housed in the city are the International Basketball League's St. Louis Swarm, the United Hockey League's Missouri River Otters, and the Frontier League's River City Rascals baseball club. Part-time soccer and boxing programs are very well known throughout America. In 1994 the United States Olympic Festival hosted by the city is considered to be the "best ever" by the officials of US Olympic Committee. Gateway International Speedway hosts the auto racing events.
